Legal 500 Rankings Roundup

Kenworthy's Chambers | November 1, 2022

We are delighted to announce that the most recent Legal 500 rankings have recognised seven of our teams and a total of 18 of our Barristers.

This marks the biggest success we have had to date within the world’s leading legal directory, with over a third of our members now appearing in the rankings.

We have previously written about our Criminal Law Team’s Legal 500 Ranking and our Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Team taking the top ranking. Now is the time to roundup the rest of Kenworthy’s Chambers’ achievements in the Legal 500 2023 rankings.

Costs

In our Costs Team, Leading Junior Margaret McDonald was ranked Tier 1, with Legal 500 noting, “Margaret's key strength is her preparation and attention to detail. She is realistic with regards to prospects and her advice will be the best practical advice available.”

The Legal 500 went on to say, “Her knowledge on the subject matter and her insight sitting as a Deputy District Judge is invaluable.

“Her post-hearing notes are a work of art and show the thoroughness and degree of preparation that she spent on the matter.

“For the client, the results are what counts, and she certainly delivers on that front.”

Employment

Two of our Barristers obtained Legal 500 ranking in our Employment Law Team.

Bruce Henry was the first, with the Legal 500 describing his services, exclaiming, “Bruce responds quickly and clearly to requests for written advice.

“He has many years’ experience in Employment Tribunal advocacy, is extremely well organised and quickly forms a deep understanding of the facts and issues involved in a case.

“He is very user-friendly; he avoids using jargon and is extremely good at explaining tricky processes and legal issues.”

The Legal 500 was also full of praise for our Employment Barrister Sarah Johnson, saying, “Sarah is a pragmatic Barrister who gets excellent results. She is a solid Advocate, reliable and timely.”

Inquests and Inquiries

When it comes to Inquests, Legal 500 think “Patrick is extremely efficient. He is always the first port of call in the majority of cases where counsel is required at the Coroner’s Court.

“He is very personable with clients and will often receive great feedback.

“He is very helpful and will also be on hand to provide advice when needed in a very quick turnaround. A fantastic advocate!

Inquests and Regulatory Law is the second practice area in which Patrick Cassidy has achieved a ranking from the Legal 500 but it is not the last!

Family and Children Law

Two of our Barristers obtained Legal 500 ranking in our Family and Finance Team.

Sarah Johnson and Paul Im Thurn were recognised by the renowned legal directory as Leading Juniors in Public and Private Child Law.

Legal 500 said, “Sarah is organised, punctual, to the point and robust. She is realistic with her advice.”

Meanwhile, Legal 500 thought that “Paul is approachable, helpful, knowledgeable, prepares thoroughly and makes time to ensure the client is fully supported.”

Congratulations to both on representing our Family and Finance Team so well.

Professional Disciplinary Law

The final practice area to feature in our Legal 500 roundup is Professional Disciplinary Law. 2023 marks the first time Kenworthy’s Chambers has appeared in the rankings for Professional Discipline.

Our featured Professional Disciplinary Barrister is the one and only Patrick Cassidy, who is the only Barrister on the Northern Circuit to appear in three separate practice areas.

Legal 500 showered him with praise stating, “Patrick Cassidy is always well prepared. He is quick to the relevant considerations and wastes no time on side issues.

“He is always ready to discuss matters in a calm and professional manner, always presents his case well to the Tribunal, and is respected for his approach.”
