Kenworthy's Chambers | November 28, 2024

We are delighted to reveal that Kenworthy’s Chambers have been ranked as a leading set for Immigration by the Legal 500!

Kenworthy’s Chambers Immigration

The Legal 500 described Kenworthy’s Chambers’ Immigration practice: “Kenworthy’s Chambers has a track record of work for claimants, including matters relating to right to work enforcement, EU settlement, and refugee protection.

“In Court of Appeal case ASO (Iraq) v SSHD, Craig Holmes successfully represented an Iraqi Kurd, whose family had connections to the Ba'ath party, at risk of ‘honour-based violence’ because of his relationship with a woman whose family were connected with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.”

Gita Patel

Legal 500 ranked Gita Patel as a Tier 1 Leading Junior, saying: “Gita is very committed to getting the best results for the client, and she does thorough preparation for all her cases, and is excellent at challenging unlawful decisions in the Upper Tribunal.

“She really fights for her clients and she is also an excellent, friendly, and helpful colleague.”

Shazia Khan

Legal 500 also ranked Shazia Khan as a Tier 1 Leading Junior, saying: “Shazia has a vast range of expertise and wealth of knowledge on immigration and asylum law.

“She provides detailed advice and suggestions, and clients are suitably impressed by her presentation and argument in court.”

Mark Schwenk

Speaking about Mark Schwenk’s inclusion in the Legal 500, Practice Manager Maria Rushworth said: “Mark Schwenk is one of our best Senior Immigration Barristers with extensive experience in representing appellants and commercial immigration matters, so it is no surprise that his submission saw him highlighted as a Leading Junior in Immigration by the Legal 500.”

Meanwhile, the leading legal directory said: “Mark is very good on technical issues and matters which are not run of the mill. He is always willing to dig for caselaw or policies to deal with complex matters and to share his knowledge.”

George Brown

George Brown was also awarded the highest ranking by the Legal 500 – Tier 1.

The legal directory praised the Leading Junior saying: “George is an exceptionally able barrister with a strong knowledge of the law, excellent drafting and advocacy skills, and a great manner with clients who he is able to put at ease.”

Jonathan Greer

Big congratulations to Jonathan Greer who achieved a Tier 1 ranking in the Legal 500!

Legal 500 described his practice saying: “Jonathan represents cases to an extremely high standard, and he is very knowledgeable of the area of the law, very articulate, and a very strong advocate.

“He is very approachable and supports you in the preparation of the cases too, and he is always very professional in his approach to his brief.”

Craig Holmes

Legal 500 listed Craig Holmes as a Leading Junior. They recommended his services saying: “Craig's advocacy is very good, as he is very persuasive in court.

“He is able to break down complex legal points in difficult cases with such tact, he has a strong ability to break down difficult and niche legal and factual issues on his feet in a clear and comprehensible way, and he is an advocate at the top of his game whose understanding and knowledge of the law is second-to-none.”

Immigration Clerks

Lastly, we should touch on the client services for our Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Team. The Legal 500 asserted: “The clerks cannot be praised enough.

“Instructing counsel at Kenworthy's Chambers is made very easy because of the efficiency of the clerks.
