Introducing Kenworthy’s New Criminal Barrister Katie Lord

Kenworthy’s Chambers is delighted to announce the arrival of a new Barrister to further strengthen our renowned Crime Team.

Katie Lord joins Kenworthy’s Chambers on 3rd November 2025, bringing a wealth of experience in serious and high-profile criminal cases.

Speaking about the appointment, Senior Criminal Clerk Paul Mander said, “Katie’s background as a Senior Crown Prosecutor with the CPS gives her exceptional insight into the criminal justice system. Her advocacy experience and meticulous preparation make her a fantastic addition to our Crime Team. We’re thrilled to welcome her to Chambers.”

Speaking about joining Kenworthy’s Chambers, North-West-based Barrister Katie Lord said, “Kenworthy’s Chambers has an outstanding reputation for excellence in Criminal Law and fearless advocacy. I’m honoured to be joining such a highly respected set and excited to contribute to its continued success as I develop my practice.”

As a Criminal Barrister, Katie Lord is recognised for her thorough preparation, calm professionalism, and courtroom skill, earning judicial praise for her clear and helpful advocacy. She is now developing her defence practice, drawing on her strong prosecution experience and deep understanding of Crown Court procedure. She has appeared in the Crown Court, Magistrates’ Court, and Youth Court, handling cases involving serious violence, sexual offences, firearms offences, drug offences, and more.

Before joining Kenworthy’s, Katie was a Senior Crown Prosecutor at the CPS from July 2021 to October 2025. She managed large caseloads and regularly prosecuted as an advocate across all levels of the criminal courts. Her work involved advising on complex investigations, working closely with police teams, victims, and families to ensure justice was served.

Katie has already made her mark in several notable cases, including:

  • Jake Balmforth manslaughter trial [2025] – Prosecuting a company director for manslaughter following football-related violence that led to the death of Anthony Johnson.
  • Felipe Figueiredo murder case [2024] – Successfully prosecuting the case that resulted in a unanimous guilty verdict for the murder of Dylan Bragger.
