Bruce Henry Represents Nurse at Inquest Into the Death of Krishan Saujani

Kenworthy's Chambers | February 28, 2018

Bruce Henry, instructed by UNISON, represented a nurse at a 5-day inquest at Leicester Coroner's Court into the tragic death of a three-year old with Down's syndrome.

Krishan Saujani died on the Children's Assessment Unit (CAU) at Royal Leicester Infirmary after waiting in A&E for eight and a half hours in 2015.

The inquest gained considerable media interest due to another Down's syndrome child who had died two years previously in CAU, leading to a doctor and a nurse being struck off.

The coroner, Mrs Lydia Brown, considered that the child had been "abandoned" but heard evidence of a root and branch change to the systems at the Children's Hospital in Leicester. As a consequence, she declined to issue a report to prevent further deaths and concluded the child died of natural causes.

The BBC reports further here.

Bruce Henry undertakes Inquest work including Article 2 and jury inquests.
