Sally Penni Runs Marathon for Prevent Breast Cancer

Kenworthy’s
Chambers’ Criminal Barrister Sally Penni has just raised an
amazing £3,445 for the UK charity Prevent Breast Cancer.
The eminent
Barrister swapped the criminal courts and employment tribunals for the roads of
Manchester on the 16th of April to run the 2023 Manchester Marathon.
The
Manchester Marathon is known for its famous flat route which takes in the
streets of Altrincham, Old Trafford, and the city centre over the length of its
26.2-mile-long course.
Sally Penni was more than motivated in taking
on her marathon challenge because of the charity she was fundraising for;
Prevent Breast Cancer.
When asked
why she chose this charity, she explained, “Breast cancer is the most common
cancer in the UK. It affects about one in seven women according to the NHS, so
too many women are getting breast cancer, and when it comes to breast cancer, prevention
is better than cure.
“Prevent
Breast Cancer funds ground-breaking research solely aimed at the prediction and
prevention of breast cancer. By focusing their efforts on preventing rather
than curing, Prevent Breast Cancer can promote early diagnosis, screening, and
lifestyle changes that could stop the problem before it even starts.”
The
Nightingale Centre in Manchester is the only breast cancer prevention centre in
the UK. It is also the site where Prevent Breast Cancer is based, situating
them on the front line in the fight against the disease.
Even though
she has already smashed her £3k fundraising target Sally Penni isn’t planning
on slowing down or stopping! She is undertaking a different challenge each
month in 2023, has already registered for the Great Manchester Run in May, and will
be completing a half-marathon in October.
