Maximising the Value of Drug Panel Testing in Care Proceedings

Online Seminar | September 18, 2024 | 4:00 PM

‘Maximising the Value of Drug Panel Testing in Care Proceedings’ is a free CPD training course hosted by DNA Legal Managing Director, David Nicholson. This seminar will be taking place on Wednesday 18th September 2024 from 4-5pm. The sign-up form is at the bottom of this page.

Who is this seminar for?

This seminar is aimed at Family Lawyers and Family Barristers who provide advocacy in Family Law proceedings where drug panel testing is used, or where DNA testing is used to prove or disprove paternity.

If you represent clients in cases that require testing to evidence if drug taking or excessive alcohol consumption is taking place such as Children Arbitration, Child Contact and Residence cases, or Court of Protection and Welfare Issues, this seminar is for you!

What does this seminar cover?

This seminar explores all the different options you have when it comes to testing for drugs, alcohol, and DNA, as well as the difference between CDT, LFT, and PETH.

Understand the length of hair and nail growth required for testing different time parameters, so you can be confident in recommending the most appropriate test that your case demands.

Learn how PETH testing as a direct biomarker makes a real difference in rulings and regularly saves money on ordering additional test types when one will suffice - especially useful for legal aid cases!

This seminar reviews the impact hair colouring and bleaching can have on test results and explains how the melanin in hair impacts the rate at which drugs and alcohol exit a person’s system and can lead to different results.

Plus, David will explain what ‘low’, ‘medium’, and ‘high’ results mean, dispelling the common misconception that a ‘high’ test result means the individual who was tested is a high-level drug user. You should leave the seminar with an improved understanding of cut-off levels and where an individual might sit on the scale.

Discover how DNA Legal uses ‘the wash’, an industry-leading technique where hair is washed before testing to determine if drugs have been directly smoked or if the traces detected could be via secondhand smoke, to nullify secondhand contact arguments, and learn how to read and interpret their comprehensive ten-page reports.
