Jack Dingley

Jack Dingley is a Pupil Barrister at Kenworthy’s Chambers who specialises in Immigration, Asylum and Nationality, Administrative and Public Law

Jack Dingley has eight years of experience working as a specialist Immigration Caseworker accredited under the OISC and IAAS schemes, providing rights of audience in the Immigration and Asylum Chamber of the First Tier and Upper Tribunal. He appeared in over 200 appeals across the First Tier and Upper Tribunal and prepared many more.

He drafted bundles, skeleton arguments and grounds of appeal, and undertook advocacy on both his own cases and regular instructions from colleagues. He also drafted grounds for permission to appeal to Upper Tribunal and worked alongside the public law team to draft further submissions following successful judicial review proceedings.

Immigration, Asylum and Nationality

Pupil Barrister Jack Dingley’s area of expertise is Immigration, Asylum and Nationality. He is currently learning under Pupil Supervisor Jonathan Greer.

Prior to joining Kenworthy’s Chambers he was the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Casework at the Manuel Bravo Project, working his way up from being a Senior Immigration Caseworker where he ran a full caseload of asylum appeals, fresh claims, and regular outreach work. As COO, Jack Dingley expanded their outreach service, began development of a self-funding arm of the project for future sustainability, and supervised all staff, providing support to achieve higher accreditation levels.

Pupil Immigration Barrister Jack Dingley also worked as a Senior Immigration Caseworker, covering the full breadth of Immigration and Asylum Law, of both privately funded and legal aid matters, at all stages from initial application or claim up to appeal and onward appeal to Upper Tribunal or Court of Appeal. He particularly focused on appeal work, the representation of unaccompanied minors, and complex matters for social services.

+ Notable Cases
  • CJ UKUT 00336 (Family Proceedings and Deportation Case) [2022] – Jack Dingley successfully represented the Appellant in arguing that the Respondent could not pre-empt the outcome of family proceedings when deciding to enact deportation. His submissions were incorporated into guidance on how the deportation exceptions at s.117C are compatible with the earlier caselaw of MS(Ivory Coast) and MH(Morocco).
