+ Notable Cases
- R v R (2023) – Instructed to prosecute a murder revolving around the fatal attack of the student boyfriend of the accused, who was stabbed in a fit of sexual jealousy. The case was forensically intricate, requiring careful and considered examination of expert witnesses concerning both the crime scene and pathology.
- R v K (2023) – The defence of a Pharmacist indicted with the murder of his brother. The trial centred around arguments on self-defence and loss of control.
- R v J (2022) – Instructed to prosecute the frenzied fatal knife attack fuelled by drug consumption in which the victim was a friend of the accused. The case involved complex psychiatric arguments of diminished responsibility.
- R v S (2022) – Instructed to defend a 16-year-old boy in a murder case. The issues of the case concentrated upon joint enterprise, there being 10 similarly aged youths also accused of murder.
- R v C (2021) – Instructed to defend a man charged with the homicide of his father. The case focussed on causation, with the death occurring three weeks after the event and after numerous medical interventions had occurred.
- R v C (2021) – Instructed to prosecute a Nightclub Manager indicted with raping two members of staff.
- R v P (2019) – Instructed to defend a man indicted with murder. Householder defence and loss of control after a vigilante pursued the accused into their own home.
- R v D (2019) – Prosecuted the historic rapes of three family members and involved issues of severance in addition to interwoven bad character applications.
- R v U (2019) – Instructed to defend a double murderer indicted with the subsequent rape and murder of a female. Then the accused attempted to disguise the identity and destroy forensic evidence by setting fire to the body. This serious case necessitated careful cross-examination of expert telecommunication witnesses and the “cutthroat” involvement of a co-defendant on life licence for another earlier murder.
- R v P (2018) – The defence of multi-handed gangland drugs conspiracy culminating in a drive-by shooting. Following two weeks of pursuing issues of non-disclosure David was at the forefront of the collapse of the case against his client.
- R v M (2017) – Defended the vulnerable girlfriend of the principal defendant in a case that involved perversion of the course of justice. The principal defendant was indicted with murder and she, as his partner, was alleged to have provided the police with a false witness statement.
